Senior Software Engineer

Employee's Job Description and Expectations
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions that power Expedier's fintech products. You are expected to lead technically, mentor engineers, uphold engineering standards, and ensure timely delivery of business-critical features.

Software Development & Technical Leadership
Own the end-to-end design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software features across the technology stack.
Build and maintain scalable applications using React (TypeScript), Django (Python), PostgreSQL, and other approved technologies.
Lead architectural decisions and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's technology stack.
Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code that adheres to engineering best practices.
Perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high coding standards across the engineering team.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in development, staging, and production environments.
Product Delivery & Agile Execution
Lead technical execution of product initiatives from planning through deployment.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation sessions, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Manage engineering deliverables using Jira, GitHub Projects, or other project management tools.
Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality and performance standards.
System Architecture & Infrastructure
Design, implement, and optimize scalable backend services and APIs.
Build reliable integrations with third-party payment providers, banking partners, and external APIs.
Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure on AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run, EC2, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and related services.
Oversee deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools to ensure reliable software releases.
Maintain development, staging, and production environments while ensuring deployment consistency.
Security & Compliance
Develop software in accordance with secure coding standards and industry best practices.
Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, and API security controls.
Ensure applications comply with applicable fintech security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with Compliance and Security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and improve security posture.
Participate in security reviews, penetration testing remediation, and incident response activities where required.
Quality Assurance & Engineering Excellence
Champion engineering best practices, coding standards, and software development methodologies.
Implement and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and automated testing.
Monitor application performance, system health, and production incidents, ensuring rapid issue resolution.
Continuously optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Establish and enforce clear Definition of Done (DoD) and quality assurance processes.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through coaching, pair programming, and technical guidance.
Assist in onboarding new engineering team members.
Identify technical blockers and proactively resolve impediments affecting project delivery.
Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable engineering culture.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and development practices that improve engineering efficiency.
Contribute to technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and engineering standards.
Drive automation initiatives that enhance software development and operational efficiency.
Stay current with emerging technologies, fintech industry trends, cybersecurity developments, and regulatory requirements relevant to digital financial services.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, Compliance, Operations, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.
Support technical planning, product roadmaps, and strategic technology initiatives.
Provide technical expertise during stakeholder meetings and project planning sessions.
